  2. WFEO VSC Web Portal The Steering Committee. • Engr. Barry Grear, Chair • Dr. Emilio Colón • Current Project leader in Tunis • Project Leader in India • Supported by the WFEO Executive Director

Status of wfeo.org • The Current Project leader in Tunis, was to execute the following tasks: • Keep the current site wfeo.org running till Dec 31, 2010. • Hand over existing content for archives to new team. • Hand over control of The Control Panel for the domain “wfeo.org” to WFEO President and get it Registered in the Name of WFEO Executive Director. • These matters are being taken up directly by WFEO President but are pending on all counts. The implications of these issues have been discussed at the Paris Meeting from July 26 to July 28, 2010 and WFEO CE was asked to take them up with WFEO President. • Matter taken up in teleconference on Sept 7, 2010 and WFEO CE to interact direct with ISP introduced by Mr Kamel.

All NMs. 3.2.8 RSS 2.0 RSS Syndication. – November 30. 3.2.9 Email alerts content subscription for users- done. 3.2.10 Upload articles, reports & papers – done. 3.2.11 Limited Video Content available directly from own site. Live casting will be taken up separately. 3.2.12 RDBMS (Relational Database Management System= MS SQL SERVER) - done Overall Project Expectation: The items planned under the WFEO VSC WP Project as per the MOU are covered under Points 3.2.3 to 3.2.11 (details are not being repeated but may be referred under the MOU)

Under the WFEO VSC WP Project as per the MOU Iteration 1 was as follows: • Completion of new Web Site with the new features at a coarse grain level. • Items identified as higher value and high risk by stake-holders will be implemented in this iteration. • Essential Web 2.0 features will be built into the site, the facilities to operate the editorial network will be implemented and existing information at WFEO will be populated into the database. • A knowledge base will be set-up with rationalized facility for access by members. 5.3 Iteration 1: STATUS: All features are running live. BETA site has been provided for thorough testing to improve performance under iteration 2.

  7. Iteration 1 Key Milestones: • The following was the key guiding the Iteration 1 (The articles are not reproduced in full but only the essential meaning. For full article please refer MOU.): 5.5 During this period the data from the existing Web Site of WFEO will be converted and uploaded so as to be available during commissioning. The existing WFEO Web Site (Tunis) will continue operating during this Iteration and the following Iteration for system redundancy. 5.6 If an early decision can be taken a sub-iteration will be taken up to handle the conversion of the existing Web-site. 5.7 Populate MIS database from the WFEO resource. During this period further input will be taken on the nature of use of information contemplated over the net. 5.8 Vision: The complete communication facility for National Members and International Members will be made available in this iteration.

  8. Iteration 1 achievements and sub-iterations The WFEO.ORG Site was copied to a fresh site and made live in March 2010. A New site was developed and demonstrated to Ms Marrie-Helen in mid-April 2010. Changes were made to the site as discussed with her. Mr Luis Belloch provided a fresh outlook starting in mid-May 2010. The completed site with variations were discussed at Paris in end-July 2010. All featured planned under Iteration 1 have been implemented. Continuous improvements are being made even as new features are being added to the site. Additions are guided by the spirit of improvement as also the MOU.

  9. Aug 1 – Oct 6, 2010 Look and Feel Options to be suggested keeping the existing structure. Various colour schemes were provided and an improved style implemented. Additional charge of Mail Server was given to Mr R P Gupta. The responsibilities have been discharged and mail server with secure access created. A Control Panel to be set up for WFEO Executive Director. Control Panel has been set up. This control panel has also been provided in BETA for testing.

  10. Aug 1 – Oct 6, 2010 … cont/ WFEO.ORG information to be provided to us. The url has been redirected but emails sent by people to wfeo.org are not being received by URL. Control Panel userid and password are required. WFEO CE has been authorised to interact direct with ISP. Measures will be taken to obtain the url on expiry in December 2010. Data Backup Service Provider is providing regular backups. Forums and Blogs Forums are being developed from scratch and are being integrated in Iteration 2. The features will be continually improved. Front Page Changes to be possible online. Feature created and current updates are taking place using the control panel.

  11. Aug 1 – Oct 6, 2010 … cont/ Jira Issues Resolved to the extent possible. This is a continuing process. World Map to contain links to national members NMs and IMs have been charted on a world map with links to their web-sites. Iteration 2 Plans Given later in this note. Broadcasting WFEO CE and IEI to get proposals from service providers.

Help page on the site gives this information. Training and documentation required for the above provided. Beta site be set up so that these features can be thoroughly tested and improved over iteration 2 without effecting the live site.

  13. Query – to be attended by WFEO ED Complaint – to be attended by WFEO ED Event – Can now be submitted. Currently done at India but will be handed over to WFEO ED when she is familiar. Beta site being provided shortly for training/testing. News – Linked to an Event Knowledge Base – 4 Articles provided to Editorial Panel in India have been uploaded and approved. Project Coordinator to approve after referring to Editorial Panel Members and WFEO CE. Blog and Forum – Trials at India. Multimedia – Iteration 2 item. New Database Design

  14. Summary of Aug-Sept: The following are key achievements under Iteration 1. The achievements were reviewed during the visit of Mr R P Gupta, Chairman of the Committee on Technology and Mr H S Jabbal from IEI, India with Ms TahaniYoussef, WFEO Executive Director ; Mr Luis Belloch, WFEO Chief Editor; Madam Marie Hélène Therre, VSC Consultant. (Mr Luis Belloch, WFEO Chief Editor; Madam Marie Hélène Therre, VSC Consultant were present during the period July 26 and 27, 2010) While the details of the discussion have been noted separately, the key issues that came up have been summarized here :

  15. Look and feel • Look and feel of the New Web Site needs to be upgraded before closing Iteration 1. A set of 3 colour templates with enhanced backgrounds are to be submitted without making structural changes in the site which here guided by WFEO CE, Mr Luis Belloch. Current site is based on our choice from these 3 with a commitment to change/modify based on feedback/suggestions.

  16. SSL Secure Mail Server • Mr. R P Gupta who had been asked to take additional charge of Obtaining and managing a SSL Secure Mail Server, though not a component of the MOU would interact with Service Providers to assure an acceptable quality of service. • THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF.

  17. Control Panel • In order to expedite implementation a Control Panel has been developed for WFEO Executive Director so that she can manage Members’ Panels and create user ids for direct access to WFEO Web Portal. • It was felt that if Members are to be encouraged and trained to operate the panel the implementation time would be unduly long. Educating of National Members to use the panel will be taken up subsequently and in parallel.

  18. The items which have been prepared and streamlined: • 3.2.3 Knowledge Base Infrastructure • 3.2.4 Layered structure • 3.2.7 Panel for Member organization Login. • 3.2.9 Email alerts content subscription for users. • 3.2.10 Upload articles, reports & papers. • 3.2.12 RDBMS

  19. Under the WFEO VSC WP Project as per the MOU Iteration 2 was as follows: • Completion of new Web Site with the new features at a fine grain level. All iteration 1 features to be improved. • At this stage Support for Streaming Video, Webinars, Webcasts and e-Learning Services would be procured to the extent found appropriate and would be opened up to decided audience. • A decision would have to be taken as to what facilities will be available to the general public and what facilities would be restricted. • The existing WFEO Web Site (Tunis) will continue operational during this Iteration. (Not possible as the site has been shut down) 5.9 Iteration 2:

Iteration 2 • It was agreed that Quality of service will be determined by Goggle Search Level, Speed of Access of Page during Iteration 1 and during Iteration 2 User Analytics will be included for assessment of Quality. • It was agreed that WFEO Executive Director will emphasize on users providing Pictorial Content to glamorize the site. It was agreed that old content will go into archives.

  21. Iteration 2 • It was decided that work on Iteration 2 Items will start from August 1, 2010 but WFEO CE will be in touch with the Team at IEI to work out a calendar for Iteration 2 with a view to have the calendar ready by August 31, 2010. • Iteration 2 covers the period Sept. 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 and includes the following items besides fine-graining the items already completed:

Iteration 2 Goals • 3.2.5 B2B Communication. • 3.2.6 One Point Login. • 3.2.8 RSS 2.0 RSS Syndication. • 3.2.9 Email alerts content subscription for users. • 3.2.11 Limited Video Content available directly from own site. Live casting will be taken separately if required. WFEO CE and ED will coordinate with ISPs for this purpose. • Private trials of Blogs and Forums to be taken up using a beta site. - done • Video over U-Tube. • Beta site being set up. – done.

  23. Iteration 2 Milestones Sept 15: Setup Beta site for Database trials of Queries. The database will run simultaneous on live site but trials will be in beta. DONE Sept 30: Start automated emails to subscribers. DONE. Oct 15: B2B linkage with The Institution of Engineers (INDIA) with a note on how to replicate for other Members. These members can subscribe to feeds. DONE Oct 15: Open all VSC options to users under national members. READY Oct 30: First Trial of Multimedia. Small size Multi-media files will be provided on site for trials. Sample files required for trial. WFEO ED to be requisted. Nov 15: Review Social Pages: Blogs and Forums. DONE. To be improved further. Nov 30: RSS 2.0 operations to be activated. Nov 30 review Jira issues for December implementation.
