The Pollution Control Standards Committee has recommended revisions to the 2012 Pollution Control Standards, specifically extending the prohibition on mixing zones from October 16, 2013, to October 16, 2015. This includes revising the Axiall (PPG) variance to align with the new effective date. A public process was conducted, allowing over 30 days for comments following notice of the proposed revisions, including webinars and a hearing. Key actions are required during the two-year interim period, including refining variance procedures and evaluating mercury criteria and mixing zone prohibitions for BCCs in the Ohio River.
