  3. Does Not Motivate to Action • Ezekiel 33:32 “but they do not do them” • Only wanted to come and listen • More Problem when those who Lead in Worship Try to Entertain rather than Lifting up Praises to God

  4. Does Not Produce Good Fruit • Acts 17:11 “to tell or to hear some new thing.” • Some didn’t like his message • Others were willing to give it another try since it was unique • Acts 17:32-34 “some men joined him & believed”

  5. Problem for Speaker & Listener • Blame the one leading worship • Not always true – Ezekiel was not at fault • It was the heart of the people • Must examine our Purpose for Coming to the Assemblies of the church.

  6. Problem for Speaker & Listener • Methods used in Worship • Are leaders trying to build entertainment driven church or a God driven church? • Is worship designed to appeal to the Flesh or the Spirit?

  7. Problem for Speaker & Listener • Depends on Attitude of Hearer as well as the Speaker • Being “stone-faced” not superior to being “emotional” • Being “soft” not superior to being “harsh” • Being “monotone & boring” not superior to being “engaging & energetic.

  9. Be Committed to the Biblical Pattern of Worship • Don’t come looking for a concert • Don’t come looking for a laser light show • Don’t come looking for a Broadway production • ALL of these are outside the spectrum of the worship God expects from His children today

  10. Be Committed to the Biblical Pattern of Worship • Coming to Participate in Biblical, Beneficial, Enjoyable Worship offered to God • You are NOT an Audience – you are Active Participants Worship must be: Biblical – Acts 2:42 Beneficial- 1 Corinthians 14:3 Colossians 3:16

  11. Be Committed to the Biblical Pattern of Worship Worship must be: Biblical – Acts 2:42 Beneficial- 1 Corinthians 14:3 Colossians 3:16 Appropriately Enjoyable - Philippians 4:4 Worship- “to do reverence to, or adore.” Nothing to do with what makes you FEEL GOOD or what PLEASES you

  12. A Word to Those Who Lead in Public Worship Must be: Reverent – Ecclesiastes 12:13 Balanced – Acts 20:27; 2 Timothy 4:2 Fruitful – John 15:8; Romans 7:4

  13. John 4:24 NKJV 24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." We are to worship Him & Him alone
