Research Administration Division of Sponsored Research http://www.research.ufl.edu/research.html • All research universities have an equivalent office • Certifies on behalf of the university that research will be conducted in accordance with federal regulations • Primary functions are to provide faculty and PIs with an administrative interface to sponsors who fund their research • Grant Proposals are processed and electronically submitted via the Proposal Processing and Pre-award office • Awards are received and project accounts established by the Post-award office • Negotiates all contracts on behalf of the PI • Keeps the research community abreast of new regulations and funding trends

Research Compliance http://www.research.ufl.edu/research/compliance.html Research has to be conducted in strict compliance with Federal Regulations. • Fiscal compliance – check to ensure that expenditures on grants are in compliance with OMB circulars • Export Control – ensures that research conducted cannot be used by nations/individuals hostile to the United States • Financial and other conflicts of interest • Research misconduct • Provides guidance to ensure research is conducted in an ethical manner • Research with human subjects • Research with animal subjects

Office of Technology Licensing http://www.research.ufl.edu/otl/ Primary focus for OTL is to commercialize inventions made by UF faculty The UF OTL was ranked #5 in nation in 2005 by the Milken Institute for their ability to transfer university IP to commercial use. Post-doctoral fellows can be co-inventors OTL also directs the activities at two incubators: Florida Innovation Hub: http://www.floridainnovationhub.ufl.edu/ Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator: http://www.sidmartinbio.org/ Both incubators occupied largely by companies spun off from UF technologies.
