R&D Mission Statement • OUR MISSION: To facilitate and support research and development in the School of Education, primarily for the Bloomington Campus • AVAILABLE SERVICES: • Dissemination of funding opportunities; • copies of RFPs; information on internal competitions; • assistance with preparation of agency forms; • provide boilerplate information; • assistance in identifying the appropriate research center for proposal and budget preparation; • liaison with Contracts and Grants Administration as needed; • advice on reading University Charts of Accounts and processing of expenditures through School and University Financial Management Systems; • coordination of and assistance with research compliance efforts such as human subjects and conflict of interest. 

3. Research & Development Centers • The Center for Research and P-16 Collaboration: facilitates research and collaboration among the School of Education, IU, Indiana schools, businesses, and communities. • Center for Adolescent and Family Studies (CAFS): indentifies and disseminates information regarding the effective treatment of at-risk adolescents and their families. • Center for Evaluation and Education Policy (CEEP): promotes and supports rigorous program evaluation and education policy research. • Center for Innovation in Assessment (CIA):engages in a variety of research and development studies focused on new approaches to assessment and assessment uses. • Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR): promotes student success and institutional effectiveness through research and service to postsecondary institutions and related agencies. • Center for Research on Learning and Technology (CRLT) : helps people find the appropriate application of technology to improve teaching and learning in diverse settings. • Center for Social Studies and International Education (CSSIE):improves education in the social studies and meet professional development needs of the international community of educators. • Urban Center for the Advancement of STEM Education (UCASE): is a joint effort among the School of Science, School of Education, and School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI. • The Center for Urban and Multicultural Education (CUME) : is the research arm of the Indiana University School of Education at IUPUI .

4. The Center was founded in 2006 to facilitate partnerships that lead to educational improvement from pre-kindergarten through postsecondary education. These strategic partnerships involve better understanding the current needs of schools and bringing together the groups within IU, schools, communities, and businesses that can address the complex challenge of improving education. • The overarching goal of the Center is to improve graduation rates and better prepare all students for postsecondary education.  To reach this goal, the Center focuses on enhancing research collaboration, building multidisciplinary partnerships, providing professional development opportunities, and developing Web resources and online collaborative tools. • Website: http://p16center.educ.indiana.edu/sites/p16/Pages/p16home.aspx

5. Our Philosophy… To the study, dissemination and transportation of prevention and treatment programs for children, adolescents, and families. The Center for Evaluation & Education Policy (CEEP) promotes and supports rigorous program evaluation and education policy research primarily, but not exclusively, for educational, human services, and nonprofit organizations. CEEP Mission • Improve education by providing nonpartisan information, research, and evaluation on education issues to policymakers and other education stakeholders • Encourage rigorous program evaluation across a variety of settings by providing evaluation expertise and services to diverse agencies, organizations, and businesses • Expand knowledge of effective strategies in evaluation and policy research by developing, modeling, and disseminating innovative approaches to program evaluation and policy research Areas of Excellence CEEP researchers have focused interests and experience in these program areas: • Educational Evaluation • Literacy Evaluation • Education Policy Research and Technical Assistance • Health, Human Services, and Community Development Evaluation • Math, Science, and Technology Evaluation • Website: http://ceep.indiana.edu/

7. The Center for Innovation in Assessment is committed to providing the most accurate, up-to-date, effective, and user-friendly instructional materials to educators in the state of Indiana and throughout the nation. • Products: Our creation of curriculum and assessment materials for grades K-12 includes extensive research on the most effective teaching and assessment strategies; careful consideration of our individual clients' needs and goals; and the use of trained professionals to write directions and assessment items of the utmost clarity and relevance. After our materials are created, we provide accurate measurement of their effectiveness in meeting the needs of our clients and their students. • What Makes Us Better We: believe in providing personalized service at every stage of our contracts with our clients. 8. The Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR) promotes student success and institutional effectiveness through research and service to postsecondary institutions and related agencies. • Assist Indiana University and other postsecondary institutions and agencies in gathering and using data for decision making and institutional improvement, focusing on initiatives related to student access, assessment, learning, and persistence and the policies and practices that promote student success, educational effectiveness, and institutional development. • Hosts the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and its affiliate surveys (Faculty Survey of Student Engagement, Law School Survey of Student Engagement, Beginning College Student Survey) and the College Student Experiences Questionnaire (CSEQ) research project. • Website: http://www.cpr.iub.edu/index.cfm

9. The Center for Research on Learning and Technology • The Center for Research on Learning and Technology at the School of Education, Indiana University, Bloomington is an organization dedicated to helping people find the appropriate application of technology to improve teaching and learning in diverse settings. People around the globe are exploring new educational collaborations, brought to them through new technologies. The CRLT was formed to put people in touch with the technology that is helping to change education and to shape the tools that will make those changes more productive. • The CRLT is engaged in a wide variety of projects, seminars, and programs: all designed to advance the use of technology for teaching and learning across all levels of education. • The CRLT is a home for various research and development projects developing new applications of technologies that provide important breakthroughs for the use of technology for teaching and learning. • Website: http://crlt.indiana.edu/

10. Founded in 1968 as a coordinated effort of the College of Arts and Science and the School of Education of Indiana University. • The primary mission is to improve education in the social studies (history, geography, economics, civics, anthropology, and the social sciences) in elementary and secondary schools. • A secondary mission is to meet professional development needs of the international community of educators through in-service training, content seminars, and curriculum workshops in all curriculum areas. • Activities are directed to elementary and secondary school teachers, curriculum specialists, teacher educators, researchers, educational policymakers, parents, and others concerned about education in the social studies. • CSSIE is committed to helping educators improve teaching and learning in elementary and secondary schools. • Website: http://www.indiana.edu/~ssdc/index.html

11. Urban Center for the Advancement of STEM Education, IUPUI • The Urban Center for the Advancement of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Education (UCASE) is a joint effort among the School of Science, School of Education, and School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI. • UCASE is an environment in which university and K-12 educators collaborate to expand knowledge of teaching and learning, preparing the next generation of science and mathematics teachers. • UCASE is advancing STEM education by promoting excellence in teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and supporting services for students that enhance persistence and achievement. 12. Center for Urban and Multicultural Education, IUPUI • The Center for Urban and Multicultural Education (CUME) is the research arm of the Indiana University School of Education at IUPUI. • CUME's mission is to create connections between research, theory and practice with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of education throughout the P-20 continuum—from early childhood through graduate school levels, and including formal, alternative and community-based education. Our work seeks to support inquiry, facilitate public discussion, and critically challenge stereotypes about diverse students, families, and schools. Together with our community partners and faculty affiliates, CUME continues to engage in research and evaluation leading to improved practices, assessment, leadership and policy within and across diverse educational settings. • Currently CUME is affiliated with over 20 partners including public schools, community centers, and other academic units in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. The mission of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community is to work with communities to welcome, value, and support the meaningful participation of people of all ages and abilities through research, education, and service. 14. Indiana University BloomingtonFinancial Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form The Office of Sponsored Research Services will be sending an email to all faculty and students in September announcing the new electronic process for the Conflict of Interest forms. All forms will be processed electronically, thus eliminating the individual IU Schools who would normally process the paperwork and maintain their own database. Please watch for this email and the detailed instructions, coming to you soon.

15.
