North Texas and Other University Members University of North Texas University of Texas at Dallas Southern Methodist University • Collectively involve more than 20 faculty members and 75 graduate students working directly on related research projects • 2000 undergraduate and 1200 graduate students in Computing, Software, Security and Systems Engineering degree programs • Proven experience with industry and government funded research Other Universities Seeking Membership Arizona State University Southern Illinois University Stony Brook UC-Irvine UT-San Antonio

NCSC Research Focus Areas • Net-Centric Software and Systems • High survivability, reliability, security and safety • High performance and usability • Low cost and maintenance Current Industry-sponsored Project Examples • Tools for rapid system development, analysis, verification and visualization • Real-time data compression and communication • Self-configuring wireless sensors and networks • Software development for multi-core and many-core systems • Best practices and tools for project execution by globally distributed teams

Co-operative Research Between Industry and Universities Universities Benefit from IUCRC Collaboration • Help steer curriculums and research to create tomorrow’s innovations • Produce graduates attuned to current and future workforce needs • Engage in high value nationally recognizedengineering research Industry Members Receive Value from IUCRC Research • Return on Investment: Leveraged “force multiplier” to accelerate generation of new ideas for product innovation – direct influence on more than $1M in research projects • Intellectual Property: Royalty free licenses to collective research of the Consortium • Education: Better trained graduates and easy access to technology experts for company employee education and training in emerging technologies • Collaboration: Opportunity to establish high-quality, long-term university research relationships and networking with other companies

NSF- Sponsored and Industry Member-Funded Center • Each industry member has representation on the Industrial Advisory Board • IAB selects projects performed by the Center • Industrial members are encouraged to propose projects • Easy method to engage in multi-University company sponsored research • Well-established, simple and proven membership and IP agreements • $30K annual corporate membership fee • 15+ Member companies • Supplemental funds from NSF (for research and administration) • Leverage additional funding from NSF and other government agencies

Timeline Industrial membership recruiting through July 2008 Letter of financial commitment Dues can be paid annually or quarterly Request Formal NSF Recognition as IUCRC by August 31, 2008 Submit a formal proposal with industry member commitments Kick-Off First Industry Advisory Board meeting in Fall 2008 Approve governance structure Select initial projects to be funded
