Research Into Implementation Models • Integrate into curriculum based upon learning outcomes • After-school program activity, Club • Summer camp • Gifted & Talented program • Incoming college freshmen Research has shown that the scalability and flexibility to utilize various models is key to successful implementation of the program.

Audience/Stakeholders • Students – Increase awareness, interest, and pursuit • Educators – Offer ready-made curriculum, Improve performance in class, teaches teamwork, improves classroom dynamics, turns that “troubled kid” around. • Focuses on underserved populations and diversity. Seeks those who may not already be on the path. • Labs – anecdotal evidence of success in hiring • Naval Engineers, Architects, Marine Engineers, Ocean Engineers – The next generation. Increasing awareness of field, and career opportunities. • Mentors – Labs, Professional Societies, Professionals

Results/Success Stories/Metrics • Year One – from 500 to 1,900 participants in just 4 programs • Year Two –6,000 students participating in 50 programs • Over 100 schools from 48 year one • 400 kits year one to 1,100 year two into year three • 1 state initially, 20 states now and growth potential – waiting list! • Public Relations for ONR • Pre/Post Surveys, data collection beginning on the website (short term measures)

  7. Examples of Why SeaPerch Works • NSWCCD Division 97 engineers Kevin M. and Rich B. worked as Villanova Interns and SeaPerch volunteers in 2007. Joined ASNE student section at Villanova. Hired as NCWCCD engineers in 2008. • Drexel Student SeaPerch volunteer Mick G. in 2007/08; he started working in NCWCCD this year. • Amanda G., High School SeaPerch student in 2007/08. Became a Rutgers Engineering student in 2009, and started as NCWCCD Intern in June • SeaPerch Student Nathan H. in 2008. Graduated and completed first year at Webb for Naval Architecture. Joined SNAME student section and is leading a SeaPerch mentoring effort for local schools.
