  1. Building the 5.5 HP Tecumseh Intake Manifold, Carburetor, Muffler, Heat Shield, Flywheel Cover.

  2. What are the 4 steps of combustion? • 1. INTAKE • 2. COMPRESSION • 3. SPARK • 4. EXHAUST

  3. The 4 Steps of Combustion

  4. Crankshaft

  5. Intake Manifold

  6. What does the Intake Manifold do?? • The Intake Manifold brings in the Air AND Fuel to the cylinder heads. • The Carburetor bolts right on top of the intake manifold.

  7. Carburetor

  8. What does the Carburetor do?? • The Carburetor brings fuel into the engine. • The throttle (gas pedal) is connected to the carburetor. • This tells the carburetor how much fuel to allow into the engine.

  9. STARTING THE BUILD!

  10. Add The Intake Manifold • Make sure to screw it in with your HAND before tightening with a SCREW DRIVER! • DON’T FORGET THE GASKET!

  11. Carburetor • Line up the Carburetor with gasket and align over holes. • Use a screwdriver and wrench to tighten down the carburetor. • DON’T OVER TIGHTEN!

  12. Muffler • 1. Align the two muffler bolts through the muffler. • 2. Tighten the muffler bolts. • What does this part do??

  13. Throttle Linkage • 1. Attach the linkage pin to the throttle. (Red Arrow!) • 2. Place the linkage pin in the groove on the top of the Carburetor. (Green Arrow!)

  14. Secure the Throttle Linkage • 1. Align the Throttle Linkage over the top of the Camshaft pin. WITH YOUR HANDS! • 2. Make sure there Camshaft pin looks like the picture!! • 3. Tighten down the tension bolt until snug.

  15. Attach the Heat Shield • Attach and connect the bolts for the heat shield. • Don’t forget to re-attach the spark plug!

  16. Connect The Power Wires • Connect the Ground Wire (BLACK) to the middle terminal. • Connect the Oil Pressure Wire (BLUE) to the top terminal. • Connect the Power Wire (GREEN) to the bottom terminal.

  17. Flywheel Cover • Align the flywheel cover and attach it using the bolts required.

  18. Flywheel Cover • Align the flywheel cover and attach it using the bolts required.

  19. Governor and Spring • Attach the Governor Plate to the flywheel cover. • Attach the governor spring to the bottom of the throttle linkage.

  20. Air Cleaner • Attach the Air Cleaner to the engine and align over the rod. • Gentle tighten the air cleaner with your hand until snug.

  21. The 4 Steps of Combustion

  22. HI FIVE! • GREAT TEAMWORK SO FAR ON THE BUILD! Crankcase!! Cylinder Head!! Ignition!!! AIR & FUEL SYSTEM!!!
