  2. Vaginal Births • Many women who have had a healthy pregnancy will have a vaginal birth. In a vaginal birth, the baby will come out through the birth canal. • Number of vaginal deliveries: about 2,650,744 in the united States each year. • Most popular way of giving birth. (prefered over a C-Section.)

  3. C-Section or Cesarean Section. • Cesarean delivery, also called C-Section, is surgery to deliver a baby. The baby is taken out through the mother's abdomen. Most cesarean births result in healthy babies and mothers. But a C-Section is a major surgery and carries multiple risks. • C-Sections are normally only done when their are complications with the pregnancy. Normally doctors will want the mother to have a vaginal birth, because it can be safer for the baby and the mother.

  4. Breast Feeding • Breastfeeding if the best for your baby, and it’s also the healthiest way. • Breastfeeding is an unequalled way of providing ideal food for the healthy growth and development of infants; it is also an integral part of the reproductive process with important implications for the health of mothers.

  5. Formula Feeding • Most moms prefer to breastfeed, because it’s healthier for the baby and a lot cheaper. • Some mothers may not be able to breastfeed, so feeding their baby formula would be the best option. Just because you don’t feed your baby breast milk, doesn’t mean they aren’t getting enough nutrition through formula.

  6. Formula Feeding cont. • When mixing formula you want to be sure and mix it thoroughly. There are 3 different types of formulas you can feed your baby. • Powdered formula-where you add the powder to the water and mix it. • Concentrated formula- also where you add the mixture to the water. • Ready-to-use formula- It’s already done. Just poor in a bottle and heat up the liquid.
