How it started… • In January of 2004, Bay Area Commuter Services (BACS) and the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council partnered to create the commute option program called Telework Tampa Bay. • Funding for the program was provided through a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Grant from the Pinellas and Hillsborough MPOs

  3. Program Goals • Promote teleworking within Pinellas and Hillsborough counties • Educate businesses and their employees on the benefits of telework • Recruit local employers for “pilot” program development • Assist employers in setting-up and evaluating their telework programs

Recruitment Efforts… • Targeting employer/membership lists from various organizations • Advertising in local newspapers, journals, professional organizations’ newsletters • Attending and making presentations at workshops and conferences convened by other groups • Identifying firms with national telework programs that have a presence in the Tampa Bay region. • Word of mouth

  5. Services TTB offers a comprehensive package of technical assistance services, including: • One-on-One consultation with Telework Tampa Bay staff • Presentations/workshops on teleworking designed for management • Design and implementation of telework programs

  6. Cont’d… • Conducting job assessments • Development of telework policies, procedures, and agreements • Provide sample materials, case studies, implementation guide • Training sessions for managers and teleworkers • Program evaluation, focus groups, case studies

  7. Through our marketing efforts many leads were developed. Approximately 3,500 companies were provided with information about Telework Tampa Bay (TTB) and 110 employers used one or more of our program services.

  8. From 2004-2007, approximately 60 one-on-one meetings were conducted by TTB staff, which resulted in 25 employers using program services beyond the informational phase. Seventeen of these employers committed to developing a “pilot” program.
