KDP History Founded March 8, 1911 by the University of Illinois Education Club Co-ed organization since its inception 1925 - The Laureate Chapter was created to recognize exceptional living educators John Dewey was the first member Other members include Jean Piaget, Howard Gardner, Eleanor Roosevelt, George Washington Carver, and Albert Einstein John Dewey

  11. What can KDP do for me? Professional Conferences CONVOCATION Once every two years, KDP hosts its preeminent international educational conference for professional development. Mark your calendar to join more than 1,500 educators at the 49th Biennial Convocation in Dallas, Texas, October 24-27, 2013. iLEAD Are you ready to be a teacher leader? The curriculum of this progressive program will assist future educators in defining their vision as a professional. These events are held regionally.

  14. How do I join Kappa Delta Pi? Qualifications of Membership • Intent to continue in the education field. • Professionalism and leadership attributes. • Undergraduate—3.0 GPA; Graduate—3.25 GPA • Undergraduate students must have completed 30 credit hours and be at least a second semester sophomore. Undergraduate students must have 12 credit hours in professional education courses programmed, in process, or completed. • Graduate students must have 12 credit hours in professional education courses programmed, in process, or completed. toward a Master’s Degree and earned a 3.25 GPA. • Any educator holding a Master’s Degree from an accredited university/college must submit a transcript. Copies of transcripts are acceptable.
