  1. Various • April Global Run: 7 – 11 April • Last run with Run-1 DAQ (“DAQ1”) • CSC to run w/all stations except ME–1, ME–4, & ME+1/1 (no oDMBs…), and first global run with ME+4/2 • https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/AprilGlobalRun2014 • CANCELLED: Cooling maintenance at point 5 to bedelayed by 2 weeks • Date change: (29 April – 27 May)  (12 May – 9 June) • Net effect, if nothing were done: DAQ2 would be delayed by 2 weeks… and thus compress the global commissioning schedule • Including TCDS, the new Trigger and Clock Distribution System • Solution being negotiated to use the “backup chiller” to provide the cooling needed to commission earlier • Received satisfactory answers to my comments on ‘Search for new diboson resonances in semi-leptonic final states with boosted topology’ • http://cds.cern.ch/record/1664081 G. Rakness (UCLA)

  2. Control room NOT going to be modified… Upshot: Austin got cold feet, and decided to address the issues “his way” • Some issues with Run 1 layout… • DCS shifter detached from crew • Shift Leader can’t easily see all shifters + CMS running state (i.e., not in a “leadership location”) • Tours can impede CMS operations • Decrepit carpet • To be addressed with… • Shift leader to moves to table • New display screens to show DCS, DAQ, LHC status • Tours to not stop in control room en route to downstairs • Workstations to be replaced and homogenized to maximize flexibility • Refurbish carpet https://indico.cern.ch/event/258856/ G. Rakness (UCLA)

  3. To do • Write script to email to institution heads regarding shifts • Write CMS news blurb on control room • Work out global goals mapping to runs • 2 – 4 June: LHC Operations Workshop in Evian • To discuss how the first beams will look like G. Rakness (UCLA)
