  1. Group Bio-Fix Logan, Lizzie, and Stephanie with Alie and Derek

  2. Project 1: The Lactonator This project will address and attempt to cure the problem of lactose intolerance.

  3. The Lactonator: Ideas -Use milk as signal to start gene in bacteria, so it will only produce lactase when dairy/lactose is present. This will make sure lactase is not over-produced in the body. -Engineer/find a strain of E. coli that is non-toxic/won’t trigger immune system. -Produce phage that will infect bacteria and inject their own DNA.

  4. Project 2: Miracle Gro: Human Edition This project will attempt to initiate auto-regeneration in a specific type of tissue.

  5. Miracle Gro: Human Edition: Ideas -Insert gene that will cause cells in an injured area to begin producing new cells. -Have an indicator so the cells will know when to stop dividing. A shut-off mechanism once a certain cell density is achieved. -Inject modified cells directly into the necessary area.

  6. Project 3: Eggineering This project will attempt to cure allergic reactions to eggs.

  7. Eggineering: Ideas -Anti-anti-body: create an anti-body that will destroy the anti-body to the egg protein. This should halt the allergic reaction. -Place information in a large/central lymph node.
