  1. Who teaches what? • Mrs. Richardson teaches 4A Homeroom and Science to all fourth graders. • Mrs. Power teaches 4B Homeroom and Social Studies to all fourth graders. • Mrs. Rodriguez teaches Spanish. • Ms. Kelly teaches Music. • Coach Lundy and Coach Callaghan teach P.E. • Mrs. Plesko teaches Art. • Mrs. Ravins teaches Tech. • Mrs. Winter teaches Media.

  2. Teacher-Parent Communication • Friday folder- sent home every Friday for you to sign and return the following Monday. It contains students’ work from the week, along with a weekly conduct grade. • Students’ daily planner- contains daily homework assignments, as well as dates for upcoming tests and projects. • Please check teacherweb.com for upcoming academic work and events in the classroom.

  3. Homework • Students are responsible for recording their assignments everyday. • Math homework will be given every night (Mon.-Thurs.) • It is important to check the homework assignments. Students should bring subject books home to prepare for scheduled tests at least two days before the test. Students will bring the reading book home midweek to prepare for the reading test on Friday.

  4. ACADEMIC WORK • Please check grades and class work on mystudentprogress.com. • Feel free to email if you have any questions. • Papers and tests will be sent home in Friday folders. • Please note papers marked correct and return. The papers corrected should be placed in the Friday folder and returned on Monday.

  5. What’s New in 4th Grade • Wordly Wise • Year of responsibility and independence. • Developing study habits.

  6. SNACKS • Snacks in the morning are encouraged but limited to nutritious, non sloppy choices. • Please send in water bottles. (name please) • Lunchtime is 12:35pm.

  7. Math • Mrs. Richardson will be teaching advanced Math offering opportunities for continual development of Math skills. • Mrs. Power will teach Math providing opportunities for skill development. • Progress will be monitored allowing students continued development of Math skills.

  8. Spelling • Tests will be given on Friday over the words presented with our reading story. • The “Get to 30 Menu” will be sent home and is to be completed by Friday. Points will be taken off the spelling test for incomplete work.

  9. R.O.C.K. • Students were shown the PowerPoint on the behavior program implemented in our school this year. • Classroom, hallway, specials and Mass expectations are clearly defined. • It is a positive way to encourage our students to be safe, respectful, responsible and ready to set our standards for behavior.

  10. CLASSROOM REWARDS • R.O.C.K. Cards • Raffle tickets for on-task work and behavior • Weekly raffle • Rewards for A’s in conduct • Class compliment parties • Rewards for enthusiasm and motivation • General feeling of doing what is right

  11. READING COUNTS • The Reading Counts requirement for the First Trimester is four books worth 12 points. We are asking the students to read 2 fiction and 2 non-fiction books. (4 books, 12 pts. 3pt.and up) • We will assign a non-fiction and fiction book per trimester for the last two trimesters instead of a Reading Counts requirement. • Students also will have the opportunity for free choice in the Media Center.
