1992 • Kodak introduces the PhotoCD • The PhotoCD is used for digitalizing and saving pictures on a CD • This invention made viewing digital pictures very easy because they could be placed on this disc and moved around
1993 • The Founding of photo.net • A website that has information/tools/pictures about photography and also for sharing photos

1999 • Nikon made the first ground-up DSLR (digital single-lens reflect)design by a leading manufacturer • These are the modern digital cameras, they have the front of the single-lens reflex (SLR) camera with the backing of a digital camera • It is a re-iteration because they didn’t invent the DSLR but they were first to mass produce it
2000 • The Camera phone was introduced to the public in Japan (it didn’t come to America until later) • It was made by Sharp and the phone was called the “J-Phone” • This is what sparked the smart phone race because now phones can be cameras too, which was
2001 • Polaroid claims bankruptcy • They are famous for creating the instant disposal cameras, but they couldn’t keep up with the digital camera market
