  3. HISTORY1998-1999 • Late Fall 1998: Site consisted of six static pages and had not been updated in six months • Eight seniors taught me everything they knew about web design • Site grew to over 300 pages, and won “Cool School of the Week”

  4. 1999-2000 • Won Cool School of the Year by Education World • Named Best High School Website in the USA by Cisco Systems • Kenston received $10,000 from Cisco

  5. 2000-2001 • Web design first offered as an elective • 40 students took the class • Site grew to over 3,000 pages • Following Year- went from full time math to full time Web Design 

  6. 1998-1999 (1 year) 1999-20002000-2001Retired on:12-4-2001

  7. 12-4-2001 to...(5 ½ years) ...8-20-2007

  8. Goals of KHS Site • Positive recognition to KHS students • Up to date content • Easy navigation • Fast loading pages • Build school spirit & pride • Web Builders are PROUD of the site…

  9. Web Design • Hands-on class building the Kenston High School Website • It takes about four weeks to teach the basics • Students are assigned sections to maintain, and are encouraged to select areas of their interest • Like Yearbook…

  12. WS_FTP Pro(transfer files from KHS to LGCA)

  13. Students also use… • Google Docs • Microsoft Word • Microsoft Excel • Microsoft Movie Maker

  14. Instruction • Demonstration on Viewing Screen • Students practice on computer • Student resources all electronic: • Step by step tutorials and quick guides off the Web Design Home Page (Class Resource page)

  15. Grading • Class Participation • Two lead articles per quarter • Maintenance of assigned section on site and / or developing new section(s) of site • Final exam • Infinite Campus updated weekly
