  1. SPECIAL EDUCATION RESOURCE TEACHER

Job Responsibility The primary responsibility of the elementary Special Education Resource Teacher is to provide service and support to the students who are identified for Special Education services as specified in the IEP. The secondary responsibility is to support general education students who are in need of Tier II and Tier III interventions.

  3. With Special Education Students • Provide intensive small group and/or individual literacy and mathematics instruction, based upon IEP goals.

  4. Within TierIII Tier 3 – Intensive Intervention 5% students not responding to Tier 1 and 2 • Provide intensive small group (2-3 students) and/or individual literacy and mathematics interventions, based on measurable short-term goals.

  5. Within Tier II • Assist in the identification of instructional needs of students who are struggling with the general curriculum. • Model effective evidence-based instructional strategies • Assist teachers in selecting appropriate measures for biweekly progress monitoring Small group or 1:1 groupings usually general education setting

  6. Within Tier I • Provide leadership and support to classroom teachers in the implementation of research-based best practices in literacy and mathematics instruction. • Observe students and assist teachers in identifying those students who are in need of more intensive instruction. Tier 1 –Core Classroom Instruction 100% students 80% students are successful focus on all students

  7. Time & Frequency • Frequency and duration of direct services will vary depending upon the skill • Most interventions will be presented in short periods of time (10-15 minutes) and provided on a more frequent basis (1-2 times daily).

  8. Scheduling

  9. Scheduling • Special education students need to receive the hours of services on IEP. Usually 2-4 hours per week. • RTI meetings should be scheduled weekly not to exceed 90 minutes. • Time should be scheduled to allow for; • Modeling Strategies • Assessment • Testing Accommodations • Conferring with Classroom teachers
