NYU Classroom Technology Tiers • Tier I – Basic Technology Classroom – Classroom provides audio/video presentation capability from local (computer hard drive, CD/DVD/Flash drive, audio device, etc.) and remote sources (internet). A computer with internet access is provided for the instructor with standard and selected specialized software for instructional purposes; Inputs for an additional computer and additional media devices are provided. Wireless access is available for students. If classroom is large, speech reinforcement is provided. • Tier II – Smart Classroom – In addition to Tier I capabilities, classroom provides “touch screen” or wall mounted media control system (i.e., Crestron System) for controlling media input/output, projection screen, etc. (e.g., Crestron System) from one location. Tier II classrooms may also have audio/video capture technology. • Tier III – Video Conferencing Classroom – In addition to Tier I and II capabilities, Tier III classrooms have installed video conferencing equipment to provide synchronous (live) audio/video communication with remote site(s). This includes cameras, microphones and additional communications and network equipment.
