Sydney Region Agenda Wrap Up of Term 4, 2004 CC Day Term 1 2005 Technology UpdateSydney Region T4L Hardware: Apple and ASI are the two vendors providing hardware on the Technology for Learning rollout for Sydney Region. This session will look at the offerings from both vendors.Office Tips and Tricks: This session covers both Mac and Windows versions.  Photo Editing Tips:  This session will look at the sorts of things you can do with photo editing software Integrating ICT into Teaching and Learning K-6: Websites of interestEduWeb 2005: EduWeb has been updated for another new year with new features and benefits worth considering. Also a sneak peek at a new tool called EduWeb SPASMS Industry Presentation Sessions:GProxy: This is a proxy server specifically for NSW public schools. It offers Internet caching, internal webmail, shared calendaring and school resource bookings, OASIS Library and Admin Enquiry via Windows and Mac workstations, file hosting and more. Sydney Region Annual Schools Web Design Awards 2005 The theme for this year is: Reflections http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/events/statecompetitions/webawards/index.php A professional learning community has been created on TaLE at www.tale.nsw.edu.au in term 4 2004, to help teachers in their preparation for the 2005 competition. Sydney Region DET Portal Access to the DET Intranet is now available from home via the DET portal http://portal.det.nsw.edu.au To access the portal you will need to enter the username and password used to access Leave on line. An increasing number of Intranet sites are becoming available through the DET portal

  8. Sydney Region TARDIS The TARDIS website is designed to assist with communication of Technology related news and issues within NSW Department of Education and Training by DET employees. You will need to sign up to the website using your DET User ID naming format (the one you use to check your Leave Balance) if you wish to contribute to the forums, but you can read all the content without signing up. Please note that you can't use your actual DET User ID as full stops are not treated as valid characters. You will need to use a valid email account as an activation link will be sent to that account. If you are unsure what your DET User ID contact the DET Helpdesk on 1800 338 483. http://tardis.det.nsw.edu.au/ You can join in with conversations by accessing the TARDIS Forums. The forums are moderated and designed for professional dialogue focused on technology related topics.

  11. Sydney Region Computer recycling This organisation has provided this service in Sydney Region (Windows systems only) with favourable results. All items for pickup must be intact. http://www.itrecyclers.com/index.html All inclusive computer pickup and recycling fee is $95.00 Jobs that take more than 1 hour to complete will be charged at $45.00 per half hour thereafter. Payment is required at time of pickup via cheque, money order or cash. “With our past history of pickups, we take on average 1 hour to complete a load of 50-60 PC's and 20 monitors to our vehicle, (depending on building access).”

All Available Computer Funding • Schools receive two Computer funding allocations: CC Grant and Computer Education Grant • The CC Grant is shown separately, the CE Grant is bundled in the Global Grant • p.a. for a High School – regardless of enrolment – the 2005 CE funding is $12,038 PLUS $7.82 per student • p.a. for a K-6 school, the 2005 CE Funding is: PLUS: $7.82 per student

  14. Sydney Region Technology for Learning (T4L) Update • ASI computers are to be rolled out this term in Sydney Region • Information is available on the Sydney Region Intranet site. This site contains Frequently asked Questions and checklists for school use.
