  2. Who Built The Pyramid? • Some believe that the pyramid was built by armies of slaves, but that isn't true. It was built by 20,000people. They worked on it 3 months of each year (when the Nile was flooded) And took over 20 years to build!

  3. How was it built? • This pyramid was built by workers pulling blocks of two and a half tons, and constructing it. Because there was no technology they had to do most of the constructing manually.

  4. When was it built and why was it built in the dessert? • The Great Pyramid of Giza was built in 2550 B.C. The pyramid was built in the desert because it is to dry too farm there and so Khufu could have a tomb to go to the afterlife.

  5. The Materials • For the core they used soft limestone blocks that weighed about 4,000 to 40,000 pounds. For the outer layer they used polished stone for a protective covering. It was made of 100 inch thick, 20 ton hard, white limestone slabs. They used these materials because they were stronger. The limestone was similar to marble with hardness and durability.

  6. Why was it built and who was it built for? ? • This Pyramid was built originallyfor the fourth dynasty pharaoh Khufu. That’s why the pyramid’s other names are Khufu’s pyramid or the pyramid of Khufu. • It was the largest of the 7 wonders of the ancient world and the only surviving building of the 7.

  7. The great pyramid of Giza! • This Pyramid is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in Giza Necropolis (city of the dead). It is also the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It was the tallest man made structure for over 3,800 years! It is 146.5 meters tallor 480.6 feet. It’s almost a perfect square, off by less than one inch.
