  2. Birth date & birth place Louis was born on August 04, 1901. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Louis Armstrong died on July 6,1971. He died at the age of 70 years old.

  3. Summary of life Louis grew up in dire poverty in New Orleans, Louisiana when jazz was not big . As a kid he worked at odd jobs and sung in a boys quartet. In 1913 he was sent to the colored waifs home for juvenile delinquents he learned how to play cornet there in the band . Music soon became a passion in his teens he learned music by listening to pioneer jazz including the leading New Orleans cornetist King Oliver . Louis developed rapidly : he played in Mississippi river boats band. He married Lil Hardin the pianist of Oliver’s creole jazz band.
