Delivered Queries • Many delivered queries provide the basis for Crystal Reports • Crystal provides formatting
Custom Queries • Custom queries can be either public or private • Public queries can be used by anyone • Private queries are for my own use
Crystal Reports • Crystal is used to format data from queries • Public queries can be used by anyone • Private queries are for my own use
SQR Reports • SQR reports are similar to reports in our current system • Written by programmers • More stuff • “Just the facts ma’am”
nVision Reports • nVision is a tool that allows Excel to interact directly with the database • Takes advantage of the features of Excel • Data doesn’t have to be keyed
How will I be trained? • Training will be appropriate to your needs • “Accounts payable office” • Need training in voucher types, voucher entry, budget checking, payment processing, posting, etc. • Intensive 2-3 day in-person course • Departmental users • May only need to know how to enter and budget check vouchers • 1-2 hour course (could be in person, WebEx, IVN, etc.)
When will I be trained? • Most users will be “Just in time” • Near go-live (June and early July) • Some core users will begin “training” as they help us test the system over the next three months • Rely on these people to help support others on their campuses
Why can’t I be trained sooner? • Training as close as possible to go live is more effective • If we trained users today, much of what’s learned would need to be re-learned in July
What can I do now? • Make sure you have basic skills • Know how to navigate in a web browser • Know how to work with data in Excel • Sort, subtotal, etc. • Take free PeopleSoft navigation courses
What happens when I get back to my office? • You will have: • Training manuals • Reference guides • Process flows • Help Desk
