Since 1965, Head Start has been a pivotal program in the "war on poverty," aiming to prepare children for success by leveling the educational playing field. It supports early literacy and language skills, leading to improved cognitive abilities and higher graduation rates. Research shows that children from Head Start demonstrate better academic performance and have parents who are more engaged and less stressed. Despite its benefits, two-thirds of eligible children remain unserved. Expanding Head Start can significantly support families and enhance educational outcomes.
