EGNRET Activities Since EWG 50 • The Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies (EGNRET) has met once since EWG 50. • EGNRET 46th Meeting was held on April 11 to 15, 2016 in Taichung, Chinese Taipei. • A two-session Joint Meeting with the APEC EGEE&C was held in the morning session on April 13 and in the afternoon session on April 14, 2016. • A site visit to the i3 Travel Project - Low Carbon Tourism and Intelligent Transportation Services in Sun-Moon-Lake (2015 ESCI Annual Best Practices GOLD Award) was scheduled on April 15.
EGNRET Activities Since EWG 50 • EGNRET + EGEE&C Joint Meeting 2016 • (The last Joint Meeting of two groups was taken place in Honolulu, USA on April 9, 2014.) • 13 Member Economies attended the Joint Meeting: • China, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and USA. • Other fora / organization attended the meeting including • APEC Secretariat, EWG, EGEDA, APERC, APSEC, and ICA.

EGNRET Activities Since EWG 50 • APEC Workshop on Developing the Green Energy Smart Farm • Best Practices for Developing the Green Energy Smart Farm • in the APEC Region (Chinese Taipei, EWG 23 2015A) [APEC Peru 2016] Priority work plan on Development of rural communities (RD) for Enhancing the Regional Food Market: “Support for the realization of the initiative on best practices for developing the Green Energy Smart Farm in the APEC Region, led by Chinese Taipei.” Speakers APEC Peru 2016 Quality Growth and Human Development

Prospective of EGNRET Works in 2016 • The EGNRET will focus more on RE doubling goal, smart grid, low carbon town, etc. which are directly related to the SE4All, ESCI and APEC ASGI. • EGNRET members are encouraged to conduct researches related to reduction of energy intensity in APEC region. • EGNRET will expand the experience exchange or share of best practices for each economy to access the enough technology to further promote the renewable energy for RE doubling goal. Prospective of EGNRET Works in 2016 (Con’t) • The EGNRET will strengthen collaboration with APEC other fora, e.g., APERC, APSEC, LCMT Task Force, EGEE&C, EGEDA, Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI), and some projects, e.g., PRLCE and PREE, and LCMT supported by APERC. • Collaboration with International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Energy Research Institute Network (ERIN), and International Copper Association Ltd. (ICA) on promotion of renewable energy in the APEC region will be carried out as well.
