  2. What do I need to be able to do? You need a passion for music. You need to be able to perform on your instrument (or voice) fluently, with confidence and in front of an audience.

What will I do in lessons? • Solo Performance 15% of the overall grade • Your final submitted performance will be judged on accuracy and interpretation of the piece. • You will be performing one piece on your main instrument (or voice) to the highest of your ability. • Ensemble Performance 15% of the overall grade • You will be performing in a group situation and will be judged on accuracy and interpretation of the piece. • Composition 30% of the overall grade • Your final submission will include two contrasting compositions on which you will be marked against various criteria. • Listening 40% of the overall grade • This is the part of the course which is judged by a 90 minute exam. • There will be questions about nine of a possible twelve pieces of music from different cultures and time periods, which we will study throughout the course.
