Class of 2022 Welcome to 3 rd Grade. This year the sky is the limit. Meet Your Teacher. I love to cook, read, watch movies and travel. My favorite subjects in school were reading and writing. I am from Florida and have lived in Oregon. I can say the alphabet backwards.

Meet Your Teacher • I love to cook, read, watch movies and travel. • My favorite subjects in school were reading and writing. • I am from Florida and have lived in Oregon. • I can say the alphabet backwards. • I want to learn to speak Spanish. • I am so happy to be your teacher this year! Mrs. Dugan and her dog Mini. Mrs. Dugan when she was eight years old.

  3. Classroom Procedures • Morning Procedure • Greet the teacher at the door • Clip your name on the Transportation Chart • Put lunches in the lunch box bin (if you have one) • Take out your homework folder and put bags in your cubby • Put homework folder in the purple square at the front table • Wash your hands with soap and water • Sit quietly at your desk and complete your morning work • When announcements come on pause and listen quietly WATCH ME AS I DEMONSTRATE

  5. What’s our Schedule Turn your attention to the daily board After announcements each day we will take five minutes to talk about the date and our number of the day. Today’s number is 22

  6. Hand signal Procedures • Hand signals to use when you need something • 1 finger to “get up” • 2 fingers to “speak” • 3 fingers for “help” • Let’s PRACTICE • When I need your attention I will raise my hand. Stop what you are doing, raise your hand, and make eye contact with me to show that you are ready to listen. I will count down my fingers from five to zero. You need to be raising your hand and looking at me before I am at zero. • Let’s PRACTICE

  7. Restroom Procedures • Raise one finger to get up to use the restroom. • Wait for the teacher’s permission to go to the restroom. • Before leaving the classroom to use the restroom sign out on the sheet by the door and take a hall pass. • If all hall passes are in use you must return to your desk and wait for one to return before you can go. • Use the restroom on “A” hall and come back to the classroom as soon as possible, being sure to leave the restroom clean, wash your hands and quietly walk through the halls.

  8. Stretch Break • Reach you arms in the air • Reach higher • Higher • Reach as high as you can • Reach as high as you can all year long!

Classroom Essential Agreement Be Respectful Treat all people and property with respect and care When speaking to adults say “Yes or No Ma’am” and “Yes or No Sir” Use appropriate and kind language and actions Use your best manners at all times In the hallways and during announcements voices are off Be Responsible Do your BEST! Be honest Be prepared for class Leave all areas of the classroom and school clean and how you found it Follow directions the first time Follow school and classroom procedures everyday Be Safe Walk in the classroom and hallways and watch where you are going Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourselves Sit correctly in chairs Use peaceful solutions

  10. Behavior Plan Depending on the choices you make your clip can move UP or DOWN throughout the day. Let’s aim to move up!

  11. Classroom Rewards • Group Goal Chart • You will earn a sticker for every day that your clip is on “Great,” or higher. • Once the class reaches their goal there will be a special class reward. The faster you meet your goals the more special rewards we will get. • If you have stickers for every school day of the month you’ll get to choose and additional prize. • For every day that you turn in ALL of your homework completed you will get a ticket to put in for a prize raffle. The more homework you turn in the more tickets you’ll get and the better your chances of winning a prize. If you don’t complete your homework at home you will need to take it to the cafeteria and complete it there.

  12. Move to Meeting Area • Always walk to area • Fill in the space by moving toward the front • Leaving a walking path on rug • Sit on your bottoms with legs folded and hands in your laps. • Let’s discuss the library and books.

  13. Time to Write • Take out paper and pencil. • Always head your paper with: • Your letter, name and date. Watch how I write the heading on the white board. • Write until I turn off the lights, then pass papers face down to a pile in the middle of your table. Ready to write! Tell me about your favorite summer memory.

  14. Recess • We will practice our dismissal procedures during recess today. The sooner we get it the sooner we can go to the playground. • Let’s line up. Car riders first, then afterschool students and lastly bus riders will line up. When you hear your name quietly line up.

  15. Math Test • Quietly find a book in the library and take it and put it in your desk. • Sit quietly at your desk and take out a pencil. • Complete the test sheets at your desk. • If you finish early flip your test over, take out your book to read and raise 3 fingers until your test is collected.

  16. Cafeteria Procedures • Line up. If you brought a lunch get it from the bin before getting in line. • I’ll pass out cafeteria cards. DO NOT LOSE THEM!!! • Walk quietly to the cafeteria. Our tables are 3 & 4. • Sit down if you brought a lunch. • Stay in line to get hot lunch. You MUST get fruit or vegetables with your meal every day. This is a SCHOOL RULE. • Use table manners in the cafeteria, whisper voices and clean your place when you are done. • Today Emily and Trey will be our table cleaners when we are all done with lunch. • We will line up and go to specials after lunch. We don’t want to be late so pay attention and move quickly.

  17. Afternoon • Wash your hands • Take a seat • Find your Wordly Wise books in your desk and take them out. Let’s learn some vocabulary words! • Stretch Break (head, shoulders, knees and toes) • Science Lesson: Forces of Motion

  18. Dismissal • Dismissal (remember what we practiced) • Put materials away and clean your desk • Get take home bag and put homework folders and planners in bag. • Stack chairs in four stacks of 5 chairs each (there will be one left over). • Line up in order you are called. Turn voices off until you are in the cafeteria (car riders) or on the bus (bus riders). Have a great night! See you tomorrow!
