  1. Things NOT to say whenpulled over by the Police Sorry, officer, I didn’t realize my radar detector wasn’t plugged in. Hey, you must’ve been doing about 130 or better to keep up with me! Good job! Wow! I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer. You’re not gonna check the trunk, are you? Gee, officer! That’s terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too! Well, do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does. I was only trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around, but, that shows you just how far ahead of me they’ve gotten.

  2. True Passion: Session Three,1 Samuel 18: 1-9 &19:1-8. “True Passion” is that strong devotion to or ardent affection for Jesus, and that intense, driving, or overmastering conviction to serve His Kingdom.

  3. What about David and Saul? • Do well and they’ll love you. Do very well and they’ll hate you. • Most people want to be good. • But hardly anyone wants to be holy. • Having true passion is to be great in God’s kingdom, to do your very best, and to be holy as God is holy.

  4. I. No one likes to be out done. • David was the secret King, he worked for Saul. • Compare “thousands” versus “tens of thousands.” • Saul was afraid of David’s success. • Jealousy or envy destroys our true passion by breaking our relationships.

How to react to someone’s true passion or success: • Define true passion or success accurately. • Rejoice with those to whom God shows his favor. • Realize the work of God in your own life. • Remember: life is about right relationships. • Examine your own true passion or success. Does it measure up?

You are gradually losing your willpower and your ability to resist suggestions. When you hear the tone, you will feel helplessly compelled to leave your name, number, and a message.

  8. III. Let us examine a scene of temporary Holiness. • Saul wants to kill David. • Notice the power of passion. • The stark reality of evil can paralyze. • Remember repentance isn’t salvation.

  10. V. Saul is filled with the Holy Spirit. How can that be? • We all can fake “true” passion. • The Sunday morning smile and singing isn’t enough, we must be filled with passion everyday for it to be true. • Be single minded.

  11. Conclusion You will sin, but what are you doing to prevent it and to continue in holiness?
