Situation 1- Open and Shut Case • Review of Intake & Interview Form and tax documents clearly show that all below apply: • Income is under filing threshold • See 4012 Tab A • No withholdings or estimated tax payments • No sale of bond or security, Schedule D • No IRA Rollover • Ineligible for EIC • No return need be filed • If TP requests, complete appropriate lines of 1040 noting “DO NOT FILE” on TP copy

Situation 2 – Not So ClearDocuments Indicate Return May Be Necessary, Input Data • If Federal & State (no NJ 1040 or Tenant Rebate) Return are not required • Do not e-file • Print returns for TP with notation “DO NOT FILE” • If a Federal Return is required but not a NJ 1040 or Tenant Rebate, do not e-file NJ Return • If Federal Return is not required but NJ is required (rare, except for Tenant Rebate) • E-File both Federal and State • OR • If only a Tenant Rebate is required – complete manually
