  2. Describing Different Tattoo Styles • At Barrylouvaine, we believe an artist should be comfortable and proficient in creating various styles of tattooing.

  3. Abstract Abstract is a modern style of art, it usually doesn’t have any type of outline or any real structure.

  4. Japanese A type of traditional tattoos. Japanese tattoos include Koi fish, cherry blossoms, Buddha, lotus, dragon’s, war dogs, samurai’s or geisha’s.

  5. Black & Grey In this style, shading is heavily utilized. Black and gray work is typically used to create some type of 3-Dimensional effect without using color.

  6. Fine Line Fine line tattooing is one of the newer styles you’ll find in most of the tattoo studios. Fine line is often used in portrait tattoos to add more detail or to achieve a delicate look.

  7. Celtic These designs are made up of intricate knots. Celtic comes in various forms such as knots, crosses, spirals, trinity knots, tree of life, and animal forms.

  8. Stonework Style Stonework style uses shades of black and greys, colors can be used as well, to produce the cracked stone like quality throughout the tattoo.

  9. Realistic Usually represented by portraits or true to life scenes or landscapes which shows the fine line detail of an image or painting.
