  2. WHAT IS AN ANGLE • An angle is two lines or rays that meet at the point, or the vertex. Each angle has 3 parts, the side, the line or ray, and the vertex. The size of your angle depends on the amount of your degree.

  3. ACUTE ANGLES • An acute angle is an angle that has a degree between 0 and 90 degrees.

  4. OBTUSE ANGLES • An obtuse angle I an angle that has a degree between 90 and 180 degrees.

  5. RIGHT ANGLES • A right angle is an angle that has the measurement of exactly 90 degrees.

  6. STRAIGHT ANGLES • A straight angle is an angle that has the measurement of exactly 180 degrees.

  7. ESTIMATING ANGLES • You estimate an angle by first figuring out if its an acute, obtuse, or right angle. You then see if the angle your estimating is closer to 90 degrees, 0 degrees, or 180 degrees.

  8. PROTRACTORS • A protractor is a tool used to measure the degree of an angle with 2 scales on it going from 0-180, and the other one is 180-0. protractor is to angle as ruler is to straight line.

  9. MEASURING ANGLES • To measure an angle you have to make sure that the midpoint of the protractor is lined up exactly to the base line or bottom ray of the angle you would like to measure. A “wrong scale” is when your measuring an angle, there are 2 sets of numbers you can choose from. If you choose the wrong number, you are picking from the wrong scale.

  10. MY LEARNING • I think I performed very well on the angles unit, and the easiest for me was probably measuring angles. I was never off by more than 2 degrees. • The most challenging was probably estimating angles, and that was probably just because I wasn’t there for the class that we learnt about it. But I caught on to it, and got it ok.
