Why is it located on that particular spot on earth and how come people choose to live there.

  3. ‘global village’ • the term suggests that the earth is small and tightly knit

  4. interconnection of geographic phenomenon? • The earth is interconnected on a variety of levels • when one aspect to the earth’s system is altered it has a ripple affect on the earth and the people, animals and resources found on the earth.

  5. How are global issues and human geography potentially connected? • many global issues affect the entire planet

  6. developing country • is experiencing steady population • economic growth but still lack high standards of living.

  7. What approximate trend has occurred in world population over the last 2000 years? • population has grown dramatically from several million to over six billion. • Some places - gradual population growth • overall trend - steady growth • some places rapid population growth.

  8. Population Growth • population has grown from 250 million to 6 billion today Harmful? To the environment growth could potentially cancel the post WW II economic boom.

  10. Census • process of collecting, compiling and publishing demographic, economic and social data pertaining to a particular time and to all persons in a particular countruy. • Canada conducts a detailed census every ten years and a less detailed census every five years
