Tornado Facts the average amount of tornadoes in a year is 910 when warm moist air meets cold dry air is what causes a tornado the top 5 states with the most tornadoes are Texas (134), Oklahoma (58), Kansas (56), Florida (51), Nebraska (43) tornado alley has 18 states in it and it is in the middle of the U.S.A tornadoes stop when cool low-level air flows into it making it stop from spinning

Famous Tornadoes • Tornado Outbreak: this tornado had 148 twisters that went into 13 states with a death toll of 330. • The Waco Tornado: this tornado was 1/3 of a mile in width people couldn’t see the tornado coming because of torrential rainfall so they couldn’t get shelter. • The Flint Beecher Tornado: the Flint Beecher Tornado injured about 850 people. The tornado claimed 166 lives. The width of the tornado was 833 yards and it stretched across 27 miles. • The New Richmond Tornado: the tornado took the lives of 117 people and a score of 150 were injured. It lifted a 3,000 pound block. The tornado destroyed 300 buildings and left 26 families from the town.
