  3. Things we should know beforea text: Text sources Text type A book, magazine, internet, encyclopedia, newspaper article, advert, letter, recipe, survey, riddle, song, book/magazine review, e-mail

  4. Skimming-reading for the main idea of the text, getting the general picture title drawings/pictures, photos going through the questions of the text The questions direct the reader to the main points of the text First paragraph Last paragraph Or First line in each paragraph

  5. Scanning-reading for specific information names- people, places, things (capital letters) numbers (dates, years, age, weight, prices etc.)
