  2. IN COOL NEWS… • PRSSA at LSU was one of a select group of organizations chosen to participate in the Super Bowl Halftime Show! • We were recognized by PRSSA National on social media.

  3. POINTS SYSTEM • 5 Points per semester to be considered an active member. • Every activity is worth 1 point: • Attending a business meeting; • Participating in a volunteer effort or service project; • Involvement in affiliated, student-run firm, ImPRint Communications; • Consistent involvement in a committee formed by the Executive Board; • Assistance in fundraising for PRSSA; • Attending a PRSSA workshop or special event; • Writing an article for PRSSA at LSU’s or PRSSA National’s newsletter and/or blog; • Attending PRSSA National Events, including National Conference, Regional Conference or National Assembly.

  4. ACTIVE MEMBER STATUS • Are able to receive awards given at the end of the semester; • Can run for office; • Have access to PRSSA National Conference funds; • And have access to in-state & out-of-state agency tours. • 50/108 Fall 2012 Members were active46% • Goal for Spring 2013: 60% active membership

DUES INFORMATION • How much is the membership fee? • $75 for new & returning members. • $65 for May 2013 graduates. • How long does the payment last? • One full year. • If you paid last Spring 2012, you must renew your membership. • If you paid in Fall 2012, you do not have to renew until Fall 2013.

DUES INFORMATION, CONT. • How do I pay & where? • In person at business meetings with your completed membership application in a sealed envelope with your name on it. • CheckAddress to “PRSSA at LSU.” • CashMake sure it is the exact amount. • Online at http://prssalsu.com/membership-requirements/ • (Note: $10 processing fee for online payments.) • SPRING 2013 MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE DUE BY THURSDAY, FEB. 21. • Please contact Treasurer Emily Beck with any questions.

  7. T-SHIRT PRE-ORDERS • $15 must be paid today. • Please fill out your information on the t-shirt pre-order form. • We are selling our old shirts for $5!

DIVERSITY COMMITTEE • Members are required to: • Spread awareness of LSU’s diverse population while highlighting individualitymorethan just race/ethnicity. • Write blog posts and articles that will be published on PRSSA’s website & in PRSSA’s monthly newsletter. • Communicate, collaborate & participate with diversity groups on campus. • Goals for Spring 2013: • Begin a PR campaign on Diversity of Thought (D.O.T.). • Take part in heritage-themed months. • Members meet bi-weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. • Join the Facebook group at “PRSSA Diversity Committee” for weekly updates, including location of meetings.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE • Members are required to: • Write blog posts, newsletter articles & post fliers around campus. • Suggest creative layouts for different PRSSA at LSU and PRSSA National publications. • This committee does not meet, but frequently communicates through email & social media. • Join the Facebook group at “PRSSA at LSU Communications Committee” for weekly updates.

MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH COMMITTEE • Members are required to: • Analyze data from comment cards. • Formulate suggestions regarding member services to present to the E-Board. • Meetings time and location will be determined by a committee consensus. Look out for an email from Hailey in the coming weeks. • Join the Facebook group at “PRSSA at LSU Membership Outreach Committee” for weekly updates on meeting time & locations.

  12. PROFESSIONAL DEVLEOPMENT COMMITTEE • Members are required to: • Attend bi-weekly meetings. • Have an enthusiasm for enhancing their personal professional development. • Topics such as job interview prep, internship search tips, networking how-to, and how to create a digital presence will be discussed. • Members will meet bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings for 30-45 minutes. • Join the Facebook group at “PRSSA at LSU Professional Development Committee” for weekly updates on meeting location and time.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE • Members are required to: • Contribute ideas for PRSSA events. • Show up to help facilitate. • Plan PRSSA at LSU’s end-of-the year Membership Appreciation Social. • Meetings time and location will be determined by a committee consensus. Look out for an email from Jordan in the coming weeks. • Join the Facebook group at “PRSSA at LSU Social Committee” for weekly updates.

TAKE ADVANTAGE:INTERNSHIPS • Please fill out our internship survey that is being passed around. • Ask Hailey Vincent for PRSSA at LSU’s Internship Code in order to access the database on PRSSA’s National website. • Don’t forget to tap into your PRSSA network. Talk to people…you never know who knows who. • If you have an internship that you love, let us know!

  16. 2013-2014 EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTIONS • Elections will take place on Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. in Coates 143. • Only Fall 2012 Active Members are eligible to run. • Candidates are required to submit a resume and a cover letter to Dr. Moore by Thursday, March 7 at midnight. • Candidates will give a 2-minute speech of why they want that position. • All of the officer positions are described in our Constitution, which can be found on our website.

  17. PRSSA National Assembly:Albuquerque, NM—April 4-7 • Chapter delegates will vote on the proposed bylaw amendments & elect the 2013-2014 National Committee. • Day of Competition: event where students form groups to create a PR campaign for a major client on a deadline. • Leadership sessions & interactive workshops. • Mallory will be running for VP of Chapter Development!

Potential members are urged to attend. • REMINDER: New member applications are due by the end of tonight’s firm meeting & you must be a paid member of PRSSA in order to join. If selected, additional dues of $30 must be paid.
