  2. FALL: SEASON OF FAILURE • Ecclesiastes 3 • There is a time for everything,    and a season for every activity under heaven: • “There is a time to get and a time to lose.”

  3. FALL: SEASON OF FAILURE • 2 Reasons Failure Devastates Us

  4. FALL: SEASON OF FAILURE • 2 Reasons Failure Devastates Us • 1. Failure points out our Imperfections.

  5. FALL: SEASON OF FAILURE 2 Reasons Failure Devastates Us 1. Failure points out our Imperfections. 2. Failure can shatter hope.

  6. FALL: SEASON OF FAILURE • Job 23:10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

  7. What should we do when we fail? • Make Goda part of failure. • Philippians 3:8-9 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

  8. What should we do when we fail? • ___Grow_____from failure. • Philippians 3:10-11 10-11I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it.

  9. What should we do when we fail? • Put failure ____behind_____you. • Philippians 3:13b-14 But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

  10. Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

  11. The Rest of the Story • John 21:6-14 6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. • 7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

  12. The Rest of the Story • 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” • 11 Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

  13. Restoration of Peter follows-John 21:15-17

  14. JOY = The race is already __WON_____!

  15. JOY = The race is already __WON_____! • CHALLENGE = Seek __GOD’s___direction_following failure.

  16. JOY = The race is already __WON_____! • CHALLENGE = Seek __GOD’s___direction_following failure. • TEMPTATION = Lose __Hope__.

  17. "We were really crushed and overwhelmed, and feared we would never live through it... we saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God who alone could save us... And he did help us and saved us... and we expect him to do it again and again."2 Cor. 1:10 (LB)
