Agent-based middleware • The Agent-based architecture meets the requirements for: • Decoupled multiple task execution • Relief of the user from being the controller • Less communication connectivity/network traffic • Limited resources • Security provisioning
Distributed Middleware • Distributed middleware architecture • Example: Adaptive routing algorithm decisions are based on parameters, derived by models. • Routing algorithm is implemented in wireless nodes • Models are distributed in wireless nodes as decisions depend not only on parameters locally in the node • Adaptation is based multi-objective optimization and may be distributed over the system nodes or centralized in the gateway • Middleware implements this decision-making. Distributed middleware will reside in nodes and will communicate through an API
Second distribution level among WSN gateways: Middleware will distribute parameters for cross-layer optimization decisions First distribution level among WSN nodes: Distributed models to base adaptive routing decisions Distributed Middleware
Example Middleware framework distributed in BS, WS, PDA uses: • Energy-aware node model • Adaptive communication protocol stack in every network node • Adaptive routing algorithm integrated in the communication protocol
