Cornell Notes – Tutorial Video • Take out a blank piece of paper and remember the STAR method for taking Cornell Notes? • S – set up your paper • Create lines • Fill in heading • Essential Question – What does a Tutorial Session look like? • T – take notes – take notes as we watch a video of a real tutorial session

  17. Warm-up - Put the following steps of the tutorial process in order: A. Group members check for understanding as the presenter reviews the work B. Students verify their learning in their academic classes C. Students take Cornell notes in their academic classes. D. Students are divided into tutorial groups E. Students turn in their TRFs to the teacher for grading and feedback F. As students enter the room, the teacher checks their TRF pre-work G. The student begins by giving a 30 second speech about their pre-work H. Students complete a written reflection on the learning that occurred I. Steps 5 and 6 are repeated for as many group members as time allows J. Students complete the pre-work inquiry on the TRF form.

  20. Cornell Notes – Tutorial Video • A – apply your thinking • Get out your Cornell Notes on the Tutorial Video • Use your notes to write your Questions on the left side of your paper. There should be one question for each idea you took notes about

  21. Cornell Notes – Tutorial Video • R – Reflect on learning • Write your summary • Add a summary to your notes. Answer the essential question as your topic sentence and turn each “chunk” of information into supporting sentences • R – Revise notes • With your number partner– compare notes and fill in any missing information

  22. Cornell Notes – Tutorial Video • R – Review • Get with your letter partner. Fold your notes so that the questions show, but the notes do not. Quiz each other by taking turns asking each other the questions written on the left side of your notes.
