  1. Spring Break 2012 Monday The Youth groups met up in the morning at the Downtown Aquarium. After touring the Aquarium and riding some of the amusement rides, we all ate our picnic lunches together and then headed off to the Houston Food Bank. We had over 60 youth and adults working at the Food Bank from 1 pm – 4 pm. Those under the age of 16 packed up 1300 bags of food (two full meals) to be sent home with HISD students for the weekend. Those of us 16 years and older, sorted and boxed food. The older group boxed up 4068 boxes of food which feeds over 4,000 people. The youth at Good Shepherd, Friendswood, St. Christopher, League City, St. Cuthbert’s and St. Thomas the Apostle, spent their Spring Break together doing service projects and fun activities throughout the greater Houston area. We averaged 50 youth everyday and spent around 3 hours of each day doing a service project. This whole week gave our youth a chance to build relationships, help out the community and have fun while doing it. • Tuesday On Tuesday – The Youth Groups met at the Houston Zoo and spent a few hours with all the animals. They ate a picnic lunch together at Hermann Park and then traveled over to Lord of the Streets. They packed up over 200 lunch bags and handed out 90 bags at the 3 pm distribution time. While at LOTS, they took a facility tour and learned about all of the services L.O.T S had to offer.

  2. Wednesday On Wednesday - Our Youth worked with Generation One in the Third Ward. They spent around 3 hours picking up trash in a 10 block radius. After picking up trash, they had a picnic together at Hermann park and then spent the afternoon at the Children’s Museum. Thursday On Thursday – Our Youth participated in a Church service at Church in the Park in Downtown Houston. After the service, they served a meal to all the homeless who attended the service. Church in the Park allowed our youth to connect with some homeless people and find out their story. After Church in the park, we went to a Park over-looking Clear Lake and had a picnic lunch together. We spent the remainder of the afternoon at Space Center Houston Friday On Friday, Our Youth traveled to Galveston and helped out St. Vincent’s House. The youth were split up into three Groups. One group painting the floor in a classroom, one gardened and pulled weeds around the grounds and the last group deep cleaned a classroom. We all finished up our Spring Break having lunch together at The Spot located on the Seawall.
