  2. Laser hardware Two problems with the driver for the Oscillator 1) December 2008: hardware to supply current broke down Driver sent to company: 3/4weeks to repair it (delayed also because of Christmas time) 2) February 2009: Two independent memories (current supplier board, SESAM) lost completely data, no hardware problem 2 days to repair it We ordered a second driver and diode as spare for the oscillator. We asked to get all the software to reprogram on site the memories of the driver. Negotiation has already started to buy a second Pockels Cell: this will allow us to perform studies on the amplifier laser behavior and (but not simultaneously) to have 2 photo injector lines simultaneously available, moreover useful as spare part .

  3. Amp1+Amp2 energy result Second amplifier has been modified: 4 passages through the rod  losses too high respect to the gain we need but higher energy extracted (higher is needed for us) 2 passages through the rod with a very good matching of laser beam spot size vs the rod dimension (fairily collimated beam with beam size of aobut rod size i.e. 10mm diameter)  low losses higher gain. With such harmonic generation scheme  320nJ on laser table  30% losses in beam line ~1.8nC (77% of nominal) old cathode (in micro bunch)  ~3% cathode quantum efficiency There is more energy available  conversion effiviency need to be improved.
