  6. Challenges Infrastructure

  7. Infrastructure Past • Stability: 6th superintendent in six years. • Three years ago, the state threatened to take over HUSD for fiscal impropriety. • Labor unrest. • Very little infrastructure.

  8. Infrastructure Present • Stability: Board of Education focused on students and instruction. • Fiscally, we are positively certified. • Three year contract with HEA and SEIU unions. • Building an infrastructure.

  9. Student Transfers • Our goal is to: • attract more students into HUSD than we have leaving our district. • offer an education that is as good, if not better than, the current best education offerings in Alameda County. • market the good product we have and are continuing to build in HUSD.

  19. HUSD Academic Goal There are 15 school districts in Alameda County with enrollments of over 1,000 students. Our goal is still for Hayward Unified School District to be in the top third academically of these 15 school districts.
