Zeus (in Greek: nominative: Ζεύς Zeús, genitive: Διός Diós) in Greek mythology is the king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus, and god of the sky and thunder. • His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull and the oak. • Zeus is frequently envisaged by Greek artists in one of two poses: standing, striding forward, a thunderbolt leveled in his raised right hand, or seated in majesty.

  3. Zeus’s symbol—the Eagle—can nowadays be seen on a very well-known emblem…the United States Presidential Emblem!! • Recognized— perhaps negatively all over the world—the U.S emblem is inspired from Zeus’s symbol: The Eagle and the Bolt!!

  4. Why? Well…the connection is evident: Zeus was the King of the Gods and the U.S president aspires to be… “King of a Nation and King of the Universe??” • So, it goes without saying that a country with such high ambitions would choose a symbol of Divine origin as its State Symbol….that is, the majestic Eagle and the powerful bolt. • In this way, the U.S.A not only “borrows” the glory and magnificence of Zeus but also his mythical powers and abilities as an Absolute Ruler.
