  4. Objectives Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to: • List and Define how National Performance Measures utilize Conservation Systems Guides data • Understand relationships between Reporting Impacts of Conservation System Guides and Progress in PRS

Four Performance Measures are Dependent on CSG’s: • Irrigation Efficiency Improved (Ac-Ft) • Reduction in the Acreage of Cropland Soils Damaged by Erosion (Ac.) • Soil Erosion Reduced (Tons) • Non-federal Land Managed for the Protection and Enhancement of Habitat for Species with Declining Populations (Ac.)

Cropland Reduction to T or below • Progress towards the Reduction in the Acreage of Cropland Soils Damaged by Erosion performance measure occurs when the System Impact from Sheet & Rill erosion and Wind Erosion is reduced from above T to below T. • When a land unit has multiple practices applied in a fiscal year and has different programs applying the practice, each program that was used to apply a practice on the land unit will receive credit for all the acres in the land unit, . • Land units on which erosion is reduced, but not to T or below, will not counted in this performance measure. This type of progress is captured in the “Soil Erosion Reduced” performance measure.

  8. 3.8 (Baseline) – 2.0 (System Impact) = 1.8 T remaining. T value = 3 T.The System Effect, 1.8 T, is less than T, so this combination of practices would cause the acres in this land unit to be counted toward the performance measure.

  9. Four Resource concerns trigger this performance measure, they are; • Plant Condition – Threatened and Endangered Plant Species • Plant Condition – Declining Species, Species of Concern • Fish and Wildlife – Threatened and Endangered Fish and Wildlife Species • Fish and Wildlife – Declining Species, Species of Concern
