Constructing Links Adding sounds : When a word that ends with a vowel sound is followed by a word beginning with a vowel sound they can be linked together by adding /w/ or /j/ (like y in 'yes'). Did you do all your homework? → sounds more like do+wall because of /w/ linking sound She asked a question. → sounds like she+yasked because of /j/ linking sound
