This work by Jean-Pierre Rossie, a sociocultural anthropologist, examines the significance of toys and play in the lives of children in the Tunisian Sahara and Moroccan mountains. Through fieldwork and research from 1975 and onwards, the study highlights how traditional and modern influences shape play activities. Featuring an extensive collection of North African toys, this anthropological approach explores cultural continuity and change, children’s creativity, and the social dynamics of play. It also discusses the role of natural and recycled materials in toy-making.
