  5. Style tips: • Too many sentences beginning with a subject followed by a verb may make writing dull • Coordinating conjunctions are frequently used to begin sentences in reading (informal), best not to use in formal, or academic, situations

  6. Closing Questions: • Why do readers need to pay attention to a writer’s choice of words? • How do readers construct meaning from text? • How do rules of language affect communication? • How does the choice of words affect the message? • How does understanding a text’s structure help me better understand its meaning? • How is the style of a text relative to its function?
