Intro page 1 • In 1692 Salem was divided into two district areas Salem town, a bustling coastal community and Salem village, a small isolated group of scattered homes and farms. • There was great tension between Salem town and Salem village. • “ Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” This is a quote from Exodus in the Bible. This statement was taken very seriously in Europe and America.

  3. Into page 2 • Young girls would throw fits. People thought it was because of witches , the devil , and other sprits had taken over their body to make them act strange. • Puritans were scared because they thought that god was going to punish them because the way the acted .

  4. Tituba http://www2.iath.virginia.edu/salem/people/titubapics.html • She was a slave owned by Samuel Parris. • She was born on Barbados, a small island in the Caribbean. • She would entertain the kids with stories of magic, fortune telling, and sprits. • Later she was accused of being a witch.

Elizabeth Parris http://salemwitchtrialsfacts.com/salemwitchtrialsplaces.php • She was born in 1882 , she moved to Salem when she was 7 years old . • She learned about fortune telling from Tituba , she was also the first girl in Salem to start to act strangely. • She married and had 4 kids. • She never regretted her role in the Salem witch trials.

  6. John Procter http://www.salemweb.com/memorial/ • He was born in England . • Moved to Salem Town at the age of 28, he owned a large amount of land nearby Salem Town . • His wife was accused of being a witch • On August 19, 1692 John Proctor was hung.

  7. Giles Corey http://coryfamsoc.com/resources/articles/witch.htm • He was a wealthy farmer when he was growing up . • He was accused of being a dreadful wizard. • At 80 he was pressed to death. ( he was striped , then laid a board on top of him , then kept putting blocks on top of him till basically he was smashed to death. )

Rebecca nurse http://www.salemweb.com/memorial/ • Her and her husband were respected members of the Salem community. • They raised 8 kids and attended church. • Anne Putnum accused her of witchcraft. • Rebecca nurse and 4 other women were hanged on July , 19 , 1692. • Owned a good proportion of the village. • Her and her husband had powerful land disputes with the putnum family.

  9. Conclusion • I believe that the Salem Witch Trials were all fake, Itwas just rumors of people supposedly using witchcraft. If I was accused of being a witch I would get pregnant .
