  2. Early Years • She was born Feb. 4,1913 in Tuskegee, AL. • She was born poor. • When her parents were separated she moved to Pine Level, just outside Montgomery. • She grew up on a farm with her Mom, grandparents, and younger brother.

  3. The Arrest • She was arrested because she would not give up her seat. • She did not give up her seat to a white man named James F. Blake. • She was in jail for one day. • Dr. Martin Luther King started a march to get Rosa out.

  4. The Later Years • Congress named her the “First Lady Of Civil Rights”. • She was named that because she used a nonviolent way to take a part in the Civil Rights movement. • After the arrest she moved north to join her family. • Then she worked as a seamstress. • She died at the age of 92 on Oct. 24, 2005.

  5. The Bus The bus in which Rosa Parks was in is on display at the Henry Ford Museum.
