  3. Think of examples of Geopolitics around the definition – one must be about food supply • Geopolitics – the way in which geography, demography, economics and the distribution of resources interrelate with the politics of nations and the relationships between nations

  4. Some things that count as Geopolitics • Wars • Neighbours • Sanctions • Trading blocks • Trading regulations and laws

  5. Free Trade and food security • Look again at pages 207 to 209 • How do the globalisation and free trade of food stuffs work in theory? • What is protectionism and how does it affect free trade and globalisation? • Who are the World Trade Organisation and what role do they play in the Geopolitics of food production? (www.wto.org) • Complete the table on the Millennium Development Goals • How does Food security fit into these goals?
