WHAT IS QWL? • The Quality of Working Life (QWL) Process: • is a joint effort of the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the National Postal Mail Handlers’ Union (NPMHU) which provides an opportunity for members at all levels to participate actively and effectively in shaping the organization’s environment, work processes, and outcomes.

  3. QWL PROCESS THE QWL PROCESS IS A VALUE-BASED PROCESS • Aimed towards the twin goals • Enhanced Effectiveness of USPS • Improved QWL for Employees This process allows mail handlers and managers to work together.

  4. Participative Management • Participative approach refers to the optimum involvement of all employees in goal-setting, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  5. LJSC The Local Joint Steering Committee (LJSC) is the oversight body responsible for assessing and reviewing the activities of the QWL. LJSC Structure
