Sanctuary = “holy place” Kaiser: The word “tabernacle” (miškān) appears for the first time here… It is from the word “to dwell” (šāḵan) and is the place where God dwells among his people (Kaiser, EBC)

  10. Exodus 25 8 Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

  15. The Ark of the Covenant (Ex 25:10-22) 10 “Have the people make an Ark of acacia wood—a sacred chest 45 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 27 inches high.

  16. The Ark of the Covenant (Ex 25:10-22) 11 Overlay it inside and outside with pure gold, and run a molding of gold all around it.

  17. The Ark of the Covenant (Ex 25:10-22) 12 Cast four gold rings and attach them to its four feet, two rings on each side. 13 Make poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.

  18. The Ark of the Covenant (Ex 25:10-22) 14 Insert the poles into the rings at the sides of the Ark to carry it. 15 These carrying poles must stay inside the rings; never remove them.

  28. The Ark of the Covenant (Ex 25:10-22) 22 I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant.

  29. Exodus 25 8 Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you. This phrase appears three times (25:9, 40; 26:30) The people did “just as the Lord commanded” (40:16, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 32) God is calling the shots here Teaching a message about two important concepts: Separation and Atonement
